Time Team crew excavate medieval dogging site

Tony Robinson and his Time Team cronies uncovered the site just outside Bath in what they thought was a routine dig.

“We had just started digging the second trench when we found it”, Robinson told reporters. “At first I thought it was an ancient campsite – but my colleague Phil Harding, being a keen dogger, assured me it had been used for Gothic group sex”

Phil Harding, a self confessed expert in modern dogging, saw similarities between the excavated site and some of his own favourite haunts.

“The area is remote and surrounded by thick bushes, creating a kind of ‘sex pen’ – and the soft, clay like texture of the soil would have provided a quality makeshift lubricant when wet” 

Being perhaps one of the greatest finds in the show’s history, the Queen is set to honour the team with MBE’s.

“It’s even better than that time we found the Ark of the Covenant!” Robinson exclaimed. 

The site is open to the public until late February 2012, at which point it will exclusively be used for re-enactments.
